We say it all the time: “we believe in story”. It’s who we are. It’s what we do. It’s the proverbial thread woven through the tapestry of our lives. We all have them; the ones that have already had their conclusion, the ones currently being written, and the ones where the ink hasn’t yet left a blot on the paper. Some stories are written by us, and some stories, I believe wholeheartedly, are penned together with perfect timing by the great Author of the Universe.

Rachel and Mark are our dearest friends. Rachel is Graham’s cousin and she’s been my best friend since the 9th grade. Their precious daughter, Belle, has been Evie best buddy since before birth. Their family has encouraged us and counseled us and loved us in ways that have blessed our lives beyond measure. And for the past 2 1/2 years they’ve been experiencing the heartache of infertility. We’ve watched them go through so much: so many tears and sleepless nights mourning the loss of this ideal of what their family would look like. And I will never forget getting a call from Rachel about 4 weeks ago – her tone was tentative and her voice was shaky as she told me there might be a chance they could adopt a newborn baby. A girl. And we broke down together on the phone. Remembering those tears and the sleepless nights and how now there might be more tears and even more sleepless nights – but for completely different and wonderful reasons. And  we are rejoicing with our precious friends that this story of struggle has found its’ end, and that a new story of redemption and so much love is just beginning. We are incredibly proud to introduce you to our new niece, Mayer Brantley. She’s basically the best thing since sliced bread. Not that we’re biased or anything 😉
