Ashley taught Graham that, when you really like someone, you intertwine your fingers. We’ve been holding hands that way ever since. Between then and now, we have dreamed our way from Los Angeles to Connecticut to Atlanta to Colorado. We’ve had the opportunity to work on Oscar nominated films, we’ve had the privilege of building an internationally recognized photography studio, and we have been honored by being named one the 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography by Rangefinder Magazine. We have shot weddings and photojournalism and stupid big dreams, and our work has received awards such as Junebug’s Best of the Best, PDN Top Knots, and Showit’s Image of the Year.
More importantly, though, we are in constant search of ridiculous places to have dance parties and tickle fights with our two kids. Because, for us, our success will always be measured by the joy we exhibit and how well we love others.
weddings all over the world, we have a crazy passion for people and photojournalism and stupid big dreams, and our work has received awards such as Junebug’s Best of the Best, PDN Top Knots, and Showit’s Image of the Year.

September 1996
Graham finally mustered up the courage to go in for their first kiss. It was Halloween, and he had just finished telling her a ghost story, so she was standing close. He leaned in, she fell over backwards to the ground, and it took Graham another year to regain his confidence and try again. Halloween is now their favorite holiday.
Graham and Ashley locked eyes, for the first time, across a bonfire at camp. She was 11 and he was 12. Later that night, Ashley taught Graham how to hold hands (with Intertwined fingers).
OCTOBER 1997
Graham asked Ashley to their high school prom and she said yes! Graham didn’t dance (okay, maybe one slow dance, but really?!?). Ashley is still bitter about it.
April 2004
June 2006
Graham and Ashley decided to start a photography business together in their new state: Connecticut. They founded Scobey Photography on three things they valued: People, Moments, and Relationships.
Graham and Ashley tied the knot in their hometown of Atlanta. Graham made up for the prom debacle of 2004 by dancing with Ashley all night long surrounded by all of their favorite people.
January 2008
After weeks of visiting and playing with a maltese puppy at a petstore near their home in Malibu, CA, Ashley made the unilateral decision to name him Bear and bring him home. Graham was none too pleased. Bear is now Graham’s best friend (funny how things work out like that!).
October 2006
JUNE 2009
Scobey Photography received the honor of being named one of Rangefinder Magazine’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography. A dance party promptly ensued.
Graham and Ashley became the proud parents of a baby girl they named Evie. Evie decided to make a dramatic entrance into the world through an emergency C-section. She’s still pretty dramatic in all that she does.
november 2012
Ashley, Graham, and Evie embarked on their first family roadtrip, meandering to Colorado and back. This became an annual event. They have since road tripped through 19 states and Washington DC.
august 2013
September 2014
Evie became a big sister, welcoming our youngest, Webb, into the world. He’s named after two of the most wonderful men in our lives - Graham’s Dad and Grandpa.
The Scobeys packed their stuff and headed West, relocating to Colorado to breathe the mountain air and start a new adventure as a family.

Getting lost in the woods and finding our way out
We both find joy in being and nature, and Graham is a habitual rule breaker. If there is a no trespassing sign or a path that is blocked off, you can all but guarantee that he’s going there. Sometimes we find ourselves when we take the risk of getting lost.
food trucks. all of them.
Despite the fact that Graham is a vegan and Ashley is an omnivore, we love sharing meals together, especially when it comes from a truck. Food trucks are one of those things that we can’t get enough of. If we pass one on a road trip, you can be sure that we are stopping (sidenote: best foodtruck of our lives is Gourdough's in Austin, TX)

We are 10 years into this life together (18 if you count from that first time we held hands walking back from the bonfire), and I am more in love with you now than ever. You are the most amazing wife and I love the way you love our kids; Really just the way you love people in general. You are all in, and I really dig that.
As a photographer, you are incredibly creative, and I love how you are always searching for moments that reveal the true nature of the people you are photographing. You have an incredible talent for capturing intimate, poignant moments that tell the full story. Even more than that, though, i am exceedingly impressed by your dance moves. I've never seen anyone rock the shopping cart and the robot with the type fervor and commitment with which you do.
I love you with all of my heart, and I am so incredibly grateful that I get to partner with you in our craft and in our life. Here's to the many more decades ahead!
All my love - now and always,
Graham

DEAR Ashley,
No. 1 / Of all the hats that I wear, "Mom" is my absolute most favorite one ever.
No. 2 / As much as I love travel and adventure, I also really really love slow nights at home curled up on the couch with some hot tea (and honey!).
No. 3 / I still use a paper planner, and probably will forever. There's just something so gratifying about being able to physically check to-do items off my list.
No. 1 / I love going on adventures. Hiking, biking, skiing, climbing, trekking… any excuse to get lost in the woods will do.
No. 2 / I’m a maker. I love the tangible process of shooting film as much as I love pushing pixels around with digital photography, I brew beer, and I have been known to play a guitar or ukulele poorly when no one is listening.
No. 3 / Despite my best efforts, I lose my keys, wallet, or phone on a daily basis.
(A love letter from Ashley)
I love your handsome face. Especially when it's changing diapers.
I still remember seeing you for the first time and my chest filling with butterflies. 18 years later and you still give me that weak-in-the-knees feeling. You are so incredibly kind and compassionate, and watching your love for people spill over into your creative work is such an honor and a blessing. You're wildly talented, and I think that's a direct reflection of your heart.
Thank you for being such an inspiration to me - my best friend, business partner, and the love of my life.
All my love,
Ashley
