Every Summer our family takes a road trip. It’s become one of our favorite traditions, and it’s so fun to share our love of adventure and travel with our kiddos.

This Summer we drove to Yellowstone, Jackson, Glacier National Park, and BANFF. And because life is better when it’s lived in community, we adventured with three other amazing families. We love that we have friends who are up for camping, hiking, diving into glacier lakes, and tromping through snow in July.

Here are the highlights from each place we went to visit:

Yellowstone: We saw some bison upclose – and that was AMAZING. Webb didn’t know what to do with himself. He kept calling the bison a cow which, I guess, isn’t that far off. The colors in Yellowstone were incredible, and we got to Ole’ Faithful right as it was about to erupt… so we felt pretty stoked to avoid the 90 minute wait.

Jackson: This little town is just the cutest ever. It’s only about 5 hours from where we live, so we will definitely be back for a visit. We loved the painted caribou antler arches (the antlers shed and fall off, so they collect them and repurpose them as art) and they have one of the best Farmer’s Markets we’ve ever seen.

Glacier National Park: We spent more time in Glacier than in any other place, and it TOTALLY lives up to it’s name as the Crown of the Continent. It was such a gorgeous park, and we loved how un-touristy it felt and how close we were able to get to nature. Lake McDonald, Going to the Sun Road, St. Mary falls, and Logan Pass.

Banff: Lake Louise has been on my bucket list for a LONG time, so this part of our trip was highly anticipated. There was a big forest fire happening while we were up there, so the layer of smoke and ash on everything took away from the beauty a bit. We loved how cool it was in Banff – our sweatshirts and pants got a ton of use on this leg of our trip. Lake Louise was absolutely gorgeous, but it was way more crowded than we expected it to be. Moraine Lake ended up being our favorite place in Banff – it’s beautiful and feels more secluded and private than Lake Louise.

We are already starting to plan our 2018 Roadtrip and we’re thinking of making it a California adventure. Let us know what your must-see’s are for the Pacific Coast!!
