Peachy Keen: Ashley’s Favorite Things

December 13, 2013

Earlier this week I got to go to a Favorite Things Christmas party with some of my very best friends. It was so much fun getting to unwrap and steal each other presents (it was white elephant style – and I pretty much love any opportunity to get a little competitive). Thinking about what to take as my favorite thing got me thinking about all of the things that I feel like I can’t live without. So, in the spirit of giving and making lists and all that good stuff, here are my top ten FAVORITE things (just picture them tied up with string… in a brown paper package… the whole bit):

1. Eve Lom Facial Cleanser: Look, I know it may seem like an exaggeration to say that a face cleanser can change your life, but it’s not. This stuff is AMAZING (and it comes with a little cleansing cloth that I super love).

2. Cozy Gap Scarfs: I’m one of those people who is cold all. the. time. In restaurants, movie theaters, my car – I’m that girl who never takes my coat off. That is, until I found these babies. They are so warm and long; they basically double as a blanket.

3. Benefit They’re Real Mascera: So good that I’m relatively certain it’s not of this Planet. This martian-made mascara is my jam.

4. Wunder Under Pants: Being self employed, I pretty much get to live in these puppies. They are incredibly comfortable and hold up super well. Welcome to stretchy-pant mecca.

5. Burt’s Bees: I’ll simply say this – it causes marital distress in my house when we don’t have enough of this lying around. We may have started writing our initials on the caps.

6. Baggu Dipped Tote: As a working mom, I need to have about a billion things in my purse (i pad for answering emails, first aid kit for the munchkin when she falls, headphones for noisy places, wipes for messy faces, hair ties, checkbooks, chap stick… you name it). The hard part is finding a bag that will hold all of these things and not weigh me down. Enter the Baggu dipped tote – my purse soul mate (it even has a crosssbody strap, y’all!).

7. iPad Mini: I’m a sucker for all things miniature and/or travel-sized, and this thing can do just about anything that my computer can do. Boom. Dynamite.

8. Le Creuset French Oven: Aside from the fact that I think things taste better when they are cooked in something that looks pretty, this thing is just awesome. I use it every time I cook.

9. Fantastical: This app (which is exactly seventeen times better than iCal) actually let’s you ATTACH TO DO LISTS TO CERTAIN DAYS!!! Type A folk unite and sing a chorus of hallelujahs!!

10. Warby Parker Glasses: Well, obviously my glasses are one of my favorite things… because the whole World is a big fuzzy ball without them. Warby Parker, however, is really a favorite because they A) Make changing styles easy and affordable and B) For every pair you buy, they donate a pair of glasses to someone in need!

So, in the spirit of the season, I am going to be giving away some of my favorite things to one lucky person.

My absolute cant-live-without-favorite-thing is my Hobo wallet. I can shove my iphone, lipgloss, and cards/money in that thing. Makes it easy to switch between a tote, the diaper bag, or a purse!

    Chapstick. (fun giveaway)

  3. Rachel says:

My Frye boots. I wear them at least three or four times a week every single season of the year.

Can I just tell you that I don’t know what I did in life before I found Benefit’s “They’re Real.” Amazing stuff!

  7. Thu says:

“You get a car, you get a car, you get a car!!”

    Life’s necessities aside—

    — dr. Pepper Chapstick. (Mild psychological dependency here….) if I get nervous or I need to not look dead… It has the perfect amount of gloss and tint. It’s been my go to for 20+ years and I have an undying loyalty to it.
    — chacos. Perfect for the utilitarian
    — down comforter bc i feel like in sleeping in clouds and down seems to regulate with body temperature.
    — lulu everything… Because they push stuff up… and in…. where things should be…. But is sometimes not.

  8. Jennifer Giesemann says:

My fav thing these days is probably macadamia nut oil! For a girl who has no oil or moisture on her entire body, it’s a necessity for my hair, scalp and skin!! Especially living in Guatemala where it does not rain for 6 months out of the year!!

  9. Katie says:

Justin’s Maple Almond butter. It is amazing and should always be eaten with a spoon!

  10. Jenny Tuley says:

My absolute can’t live without favorite thing is red lipstick. It’s perfect for going out on a date with the hubs, but it’s even better for house work. Something about bright red lips makes the vacuum feel lighter:)

What a great idea! I LOVE finding out what products work for my friends & discovering new ones along the way. 🙂 I personally would love to try a pair of the Wunder Unders as I’ve never had the pleasure. And as for Fantastical – 1000% agree. Hubby converted me & I don’t know how I survived prior to!

    As for my own can’t-live-without-it-will-drop-everything-and-go-home-to-find-it.
-Camelbak 24oz bottle WITH the cozi – the only way I get enough water.
-Keen’s Adele bag – perfect for traveling. Large enough to tote my MBP, camera & one lens plus personal essentials but not so large that I can’t slim it down to ipad mini & essentials.
-Yankee Candle’s Hazelnut Coffee – this gets me going in the morning & keeps bringing me back to my office.
-Clinique’s Superbalm in Currant – the perfect amount of color, highly glossy without any stickiness
-iPhone – its sad but true. I think I might be physiologically addicted.
    Love you, miss your face!

  13. Sarah says:

Sadly enough, can’t live without my iPhone. It’s got all my appointments and reminders, lists galore, every phone number I could ever need (I seriously don’t even know my husband’s cellphone number), a ton of pics and music. Instant entertainment for my kid. Bible. Starbucks card. Unfortunately it also tells me when I have to get up in the morning.

Oh, and I couldn’t live without coffee.

  14. Jordana Russell says:

I love clothes and recently bought my first pair of FOX jeans…. LOVE!!!! I wear them so much that I have to wash them every few days to keep them snug because they loosen from so much wear!

We have super similar can’t-live-withouts (WP glasses, chapstick, They’re Real mascara), but one of the biggest things I can’t live without is my LUSH American Cream conditioner. It’s vegan, allergen-friendly, and smells like summmmmmah.

Some if my can’t live withouts: one love organics skin savior (seriously amazing for winter dryness), Zella live-in leggings (and I do live in them daily), neutrogena lip balm (I’ve tried them all and this one is still best), Oribe texturizing spray (perfect volumizer/dry shampoo), Malden sea salt (delicious in everything), Capri Volcano candle (makes the house smell amazing).

  24. Lauren K. says:

Besides my Burt’s Bees, my must-have would be my L.L. Bean moccasin slippers! They are warm, comfy and cute, and I would be so sad without them, especially when I travel. I wear them almost constantly when I’m at home (and even occasionally when I go out…).

*Speck iPhone cases – love the protection levels and they make super cute ones with canvas-y backs. I love the way they feel.
*ESV journaling Bible. Room to mark that thing up as I read/study the Word. Love it!
*Fleece blanket from JCPenny. It’s a King Size blanket of warmth and wonder. I’m like you – cold A LOT – and this bad boy really helps since my bedroom is in the basement level of the house!! BRR!

    I hope I win your goodies!! 😀

  29. Nicole M. says:

This is an amazing list! Honestly, in addition with my Burt’s Bees Lipstick, I can’t live without boots. My love for shoes knows no bounds, but I seem to wear boots at every time of the year. I have some Steve Madden and Madden Girl boots that make me feel warm in the winter and punk rock during the summer.

Also, my phone. As crappy and terrible as it is, I can’t leave the house without it.

    5) my Kelly Moore bag is bright orange and I love it with all my heart. It’s happy. So very happy!
    6) my ESV journaling bible. Its leather bound and has journaling margins.
    7) Too Faced Natural Face palette (it’s a life changer for tired eyes!)
    8) Too Faced Nude Lipstick (I use it every day. For a girl who usually hates lipstick, this stuff is absolutely lovely and makes me feel so feminine!)
    9) New Balance 792 Sneakers (seriously, they make me so excited to workout every morning. They’re light as a feather and they’re bright orange and blue. They are amazing!)
    10) DoTerra Oils (For a girl who doubted for a long time, these oils are miracle workers:)

This is so fun! Ps, those Warby Parker glasses are calling my name since I just got news I’m going blind (maybe a little exaggerated, but I’m on the hunt for cute glasses!)

Girl, you hit the nail on the head with the lulu pants, I LIVE in mine and since I only leave home for the gym, I live in those things. I can’t live without my Burt’s Bees either (I buy it in bulk off of Amazon!). But to add something new to the list, zipper pouches. Being someone who sews I have dozens – at least 3 in my purse at a time. Organization is where it’s at! I’ll send you one. 😉

  40. Sarah McCoy says:

For real Burt’s Bees is a must in this household, my KitchenAide mixer for all the yummy treats coming out of my kitchen and LLBean mittens for the highs of 25 we’ve been getting. Merry Christmas Scobeys!!!!

  42. Kim R says:

    Merry Christmas Scobeys!

  43. Kara says:

my can’t-live-without-favotite-things? my books – whatever I’m currently reading goes with me everywhere [a habit that’s followed me around since I was a little girl] .. can’t live without my library!!

  44. Maggie says:

This is so weird, but I can’t live without my lemon squeezer. I put lemon in/on everything. It gets used daily in my morning fruit smoothie. Side note, lemon is a good substitute for salt if you’re trying to be uber clean.

  45. Jasmine says:

If we were talking about people, it would have to be my hubs. He calms down my type-a and allows me to be more care-free. However, he is also why I love my type-a. He’s my reason for propelling us forward & making progress.

However, if we’re solely talking about objects…
The one thing I can’t live without (at least right now) is this sample bottle of lotion I snagged from a hotel we stayed at over the summer. It’s apparently made especially for the hotel by their vendor. It’s really hydrating but it smells like sunflowers. My skin gets crazy dry all the time and I have yet to find a perfume that works for me. Putting this stuff on my hands makes me feel like I’m back on vacation for a moment. However, the bottle is almost empty. le sob!

  46. Katie says:

Love this!! Sounds like I need to try those magic lulu pants!! Love my Nalgene bottle, Bonnie bell (yep:)) Chapstick, Brooks Launch running shoes. I wouldn’t survive without Target and Starbucks. Merry Christmas!!!

  49. Keri Anne Parker says:

The Tote is adorable and I need it. That is all. And ya’ll are wonderful. And ya’ll are so ridiculously talented. And we miss ya’ll like whoa. And we were both at the SEC champs (realized later). so sad we missed the opportunity to hug ya’ll’s necks.

  50. Katherine Dean says:

    -Oh yeah Victory Bars
-Nivea Chap Stick (light blue one)

    -Toms, I have three pairs

I think that should about sum it up. 🙂

  51. Caroline says:

My puggle Ozzy!! And right now, pasta!

  52. Amy Paulson says:

My favorite can’t live without thing? Probably my journal. A few years ago I gave myself permission to let it be messy at times and contain everything. Which it now does. To do lists, prayers, thanks, everything. It keeps me sane, my heart aligned and my prayers nearby.
PS: You and your husband rock.
