4 Things You Need to Know: How to Elope in Colorado

March 7, 2017

Getting Married doesn’t always mean planning a big event. Over the past year, many of our clients have ditched the large party in favor of something a bit more intimate: elopements. Elopements have gained popularity recently for their incredibly laid-back vibe. Whether it’s just the two of you, or you’re opting to share your I-do’s with a few close friends and family members, elopements might be a great option for you. Is something smaller, more adventurous and a bit less hassle more your speed? Here are our 4 favorite tips on how to elope in Colorado:

  1. You Can Elope Anytime: Colorado is famous for 300 days of Sunshine a year, which means that you don’t have to worry about weather when planning an elopement. The gorgeous Rocky Mountains are accessible any month of the year, and they are ready to provide an epic backdrop for your vows.
  2. You Need to Get Your License Here: In order to get married in Colorado, you have to get your marriage license here. Any county clerk or recorder’s office will be able to get you a license immediately, but they’re only valid for 30 days (so you have to get married in that window). You’ll both need to be present, have valid photo identification, and $30.
  3. Finding Vendors is No Problem: Most Wedding vendors here LOVE elopements. They’re intimate, fun, and you get to be a part of the family. For that reason, most Wedding vendors also offer elopement packages, which makes hiring them and having your elopement needs met easy.
  4. There are a Ton of Location Options: Whether you’re looking to elope on top of a mountain, beside a babbling brook or in a hot spring, you can elope almost anywhere in Colorado, and all of the options are pretty spectacular.
