A Love-letter to 2013 (and all of its’ questions):

December 31, 2013

Dear 2013. You are my frenemy. For real. I have never met such a roller coaster as you. And I am looking forward to the ball drop tonight more than ever before. It is time for you to take a permanent sabbatical… somewhere tropical, hopefully, because what kind of frenemy would I be if I wished horrible things on you? It’s time for you to go. And I won’t miss you. But thanks for the memories, anyways.

I saw something last week that caught my eye. It was a quote on Pinterest (naturally), and it said:

It caught me by surprise when I saw this. Like someone had taken the words right out of my heart and photoshopped them into internet-worthy glory. Questions. A year that asked questions.

I don’t mean that in a negative way. I just mean that this year has been one of… unforseen change. Our business changed in ways that we didn’t plan on. Our lives changed in some huge ways we didn’t know it would. 2013 will forever be the year that left us changed. Irrevocably.

As I’ve spent the past few days mulling over the end of this chapter and the beginning of 2014, I’ve decided that change is ok with me. I can get on board with change. Change has shaped me and grown me in ways that sameness never could.

For 2014, I hope that changes are rooted in a love for people, growth of our hearts, and movement in the direction of our dreams.

Change is inevitable. Years that ask questions and offer no answers in return – those are going to happen. But our response to them is what will make us better – and that may be the only answer we need.
